Choosing a skip
Which skip size should I choose?
Start with what you are clearing and the type of waste. Compare the guide dimensions, then call to check a suitable size and weight limit. Bulky items and heavy rubble need different plans.
What does a cubic yard mean?
It is a measure of volume: how much space the skip holds. It is not the skip’s length or its permitted weight. Use the guide dimensions to plan space and agree the load limit before booking.
Are the dimensions exact?
No. They are approximate guide figures. Shapes and measurements vary between suppliers. Confirm the actual skip before booking, especially if space is tight.
Delivery and road placement
Can the skip go on my driveway?
A suitable private driveway can be an option. The lorry needs clear access and room to place and lift the skip. Tell us about gates, overhead cables, slopes and anything that could block access.
Will I need a permit?
A skip on the public road needs council permission. Clackmannanshire Council’s current roads guidance asks for an online application at least 10 working days before placement. Agree who applies before booking.
Waste and loading
Can I fill a large skip with soil?
Do not assume you can. Soil and rubble are dense, and a full large skip may be too heavy. Agree the skip size and allowed load with the team first.
Can I put plasterboard or a mattress in?
Mention these before booking. Call first to check whether we can take them, how to keep them separate and any extra charge.
Can anything stick above the skip?
Keep the load below the fill line. Do not balance long items over the sides. An unsafe load may need changing before collection.
Hire and collection
How long can I keep the skip?
Agree the hire period and any extension charges when you book. If your job takes longer, call before the agreed period ends.
How do I get the skip collected?
Call 01259 235650 when the skip is ready. Agree the collection arrangements and keep access clear. Do not assume collection is automatic or immediate.
Do you offer rubbish removal as well?
Yes. Call about a one-off rubbish collection if you would prefer the agreed items to be loaded and taken away. Describe what you have, where it is and any difficult access.
