4 Yard Skip Hire Alloa

This 4-yard midi skip is the ideal choice if you’re searching for a simple, practical, and cost-effective way to dispose of moderate amounts of household, building, gardening or non-hazardous business waste from maintenance, house renovations, clear outs or DIY projects. Sometimes also known as a mini skip or a midi skip, its compact size makes it ideal for driveways, gardens and sites where space is at a premium.

Which jobs does it best suit?

A four yard skip is typically hired for jobs including home improvements such as bathroom remodelling, kitchen replacement, garden waste clearances and landscaping work by both DIY’ers and the building trade and gardening firms.

Private householders also hire this for clearing out a room of their home ready for redecoration or repurposing (e.g. changing a child’s bedroom into a home office). Commercial business clients also use these on site for a variety of purposes including disposal of furniture, old stock or soft strip-outs/revamping premises.

Can it handle a large amount of waste?

A 4 yard mini skip can hold the equivalent of approximately 40 standard black bin bags.

What size is it?

The dimensions of a four yard skip are:

Metric: 1.8m long x 1.3m wide x 1m high (approximately)

Imperial: 5ft 11in long x 4ft 3in wide x 3ft 3in high (approximately)

What kinds of waste can I put in it?

These skips are intended for general household waste, green waste – soil, plant material, tree waste, building waste – such as stone, rubble (please ask us if you intend to dispose of plasterboard however).

We have other sizes such as 2 yard skip, 4 yard skip, 6 yard skip, 8 yard skip.

What kinds of waste are not allowed?

Some kinds of waste should not be placed in a general waste midi skip – this includes paints, oils, liquids, tyres, car batteries through to used nappies, mattresses and large amounts of carpet and electrical appliances which require specialist disposal (e.g. fridge freezers which require to be degassed).

In addition, no items containing (or suspected to contain) asbestos should ever be placed in a skip. Business clients should be aware that in addition to the above, large volumes of electrical waste (e.g. light fittings) and medical waste are not permitted. If in any doubt, please ask us before depositing items in the skip.

What do I need a permit for?

A midi skip is the perfect size to put in a garage, driveway, garden or private yard and we would always recommend locating it off-road and away from public access if at all possible as it helps to limit unauthorised dumping by others and discourages people scavenging from your skip.

If you do not have the option of placing it on private land and you need to place it on the road (public highway) or other public land then you will need a skip permit which you need to order and pay for directly from your local authority. This process can take up to 14 days and the road permit must be in place prior to the skip being dropped otherwise you will be fined. When ordering the permit please also ensure that you give yourself enough time on the permit to complete your job before the skip must be removed.

Please see the Clackmannanshire Council website for details of charges and other requirements for sitting a skip on the road.
